So I guess dad is the photographer’s photographer. Kevin Sink is a world famous landscape photographer and he had mom and dad shoot his wedding. Dad said many of the guests asked him if we was particularly nervous to shoot for Kevin. “Not unless I think about it” was his response. He in fact was very honored to be able to work with Kevin and Adele as he considers them very dear friends.
The wedding was at Longview Mansion in Lee’s Summit, MO. It was so nicely done that I wanted to share some of the wonderful things about it. It sounds so wonderful that I really wish I could have been there!
The Mansion is a jewel of a property. A massive 22,000 square foot structure, it boasts 48 rooms, 6 fireplaces, 14 bedrooms and 10 baths. The staircases, fireplaces and windows were all tastefully decorated for the Christmas holiday. The staff paid close attention to every detail and made sure all of the wedding party and attendees’ every need was met. They were professional and attentive and could not have done a better job.
Kevin and Adele’s service and reception were in the formal front room, adjoining library and an adjacent room that looked to be a sun porch. Their ceremony was one of the nicest Mom and Dad had every seen. It was thoughtful, loving, spiritual and inspiring. There were readings from several wonderful poets, singing of a popular hymn by the guests, a wonderful homily and several heart felt prayers.
After the ceremony there was a short cocktail hour while the room where the ceremony took place was transformed into a lovely and intimate dining area. The tables were simply and elegantly decorated with candles and live pots of heather and rosemary, which each guest was urged to take with them as a living reminder of this wonderful day. What a wonderful idea! The food was very very good and the cake was…well Dad said I would have loved it way to much. It was a carrot cake that even my mom had a piece of and she never eats cake! The cake table was decorated with pine cones and roses as a tribute to their love of everything outdoors.
Kevin and Adele’s marriage brought together children from previous marriages into an obviously glowing blended family. You could see the love that they all had for each other. Dad and Mom were proud and honored to be a part of it and to get to shoot the images that will help them remember their special day for a lifetime.
Dad’s description of the day was “understated elegance”. That pretty much describes the bride and groom. Congratulations to Kevin and Adele!
